VELVETEEN ZINE IS LAUNCHED!
So, a fair while ago, during the latter half of 2008, the first ever issue of Velveteen Zine was launched at a certain little bar in the city. The launch was a great success, plently of people turned up and savoured the first few copies of Velveteen Zine, as well as hearing selected readings from three other local zine and audio projects which were also funded by Vibewire’s Media Makers Fund. I had great fun meeting a couple of the poets featured in the first issue of Velveteen, including a male poet who had written under a fictional female psuedonym, and another poet who treated all at the launch to a musical version of one of his song/poems. Thanks to Chris Cecchini for agreeing to perform . Thanks also to Lisa Pham for her brilliant organisation and implementation of the Vibewire Media Maker’s Fund!
And now, we have a few random photos…Only a few, because, in the heat of the moment, I forgot to bring my camera… however here are a few random stolen photos anyway… courtesy of the good people at Story To…zine.

Excerpt from Joseph Comer's poem 'Several-Stomached Animal', the full text of which appears in Volume 1 of Velveteen Zine.
