About Velveteen Zine

Velveteen Zine is an Australian poetry zine dedicated to encouraging, inspiring and publishing new and emerging poets. It provides opportunities for new poets to get their work published, whilst also documenting the editor’s own explorations of the local poetry and writing scenes in Melbourne, so that any useful resources and information gleaned may be shared with readers of the zine. Velveteen Zine aims to demystify poetry and engage new or young writers who may have previously dismissed poetry as a ‘hard’ genre to read or write within. Velveteen Zine also works towards linking new writers with local writers’ resources and events.
